About EMS ISD AFJROTC (TX-20105)
The EMS ISD AFJROTC program offers a dynamic one- to four-year elective course focused on developing citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.
-
Personal Growth & Leadership Development - Through a blend of traditional instruction and military-style training, students — known as cadets — build personal responsibility, self-discipline, and essential leadership skills.
- No Military Commitment Required - Participation in JROTC does not obligate students to military service. However, those who choose to enlist after graduation may qualify for advanced rank opportunities.
- Open to All EMS ISD High School Students - While the program is hosted at Saginaw High School, it is open to cadets from all EMS ISD high schools. Transportation is provided during the school day.
- Uniform Wear & Professional Standards - Cadets wear the official AFJROTC uniform once a week and adhere to Air Force grooming standards — promoting a sense of pride, unity, and professionalism.
- Aerospace Science, Leadership, and Wellness Curriculum - Each semester includes three core areas:
- Aerospace Science (AS): Explore the history of flight, space exploration, and global cultural perspectives.
- Leadership Education (LE): Learn Air Force customs and traditions, drill and ceremony, life and career skills, and more — all designed to build strong, informed citizens.
- Wellness & Physical Training (PT): Weekly physical fitness activities encourage healthy habits and an active lifestyle.
- Physical Education Credit: Students enrolled in JROTC 1 receive a PE substitution credit.
